How do I get negative info off my credit report?

Written by Credit Answers
on September 1st, 2010

I have several different issues with my credit report. One includes an old debt that I finally paid, but it still shows up multiple times from different collection agencies. It shows zero balance, but also shows all the negative things such as late payments, etc. How do I clean up my credit report including these issues?

How do I dispute negative items on my credit report?

Written by Credit Answers
on August 30th, 2010

I have one negative item on my credit report. How do I dispute this item? I have heard that if you dispute an item and that particular company does not acknowledge it can be removed from the report all together. Is this true, and how do I go about doing this? The negative item is from Mac Tools Distribution, if that will help. There is an address on my report although there is no phone number. Do i need to call them, or a different source?

Can something negative be put back on your credit report after 8 years?

Written by Credit Answers
on August 28th, 2010

I had something negative on my credit report over 8 years ago. A balance was still owed according to them. Since I did a credit check a month ago these people have been calling me about the past balance due from 8 years ago. I told them I wasn’t going to pay it since it wasn’t my fault and they said then they will put it back on my credit report. Can they do this? It’s been 8 years and it was over a vehicle.

How much can I expect my credit score to improve when negative items expire?

Written by Credit Answers
on August 26th, 2010

I have several negative items on my credit report that will expire after the 7-year limit next year (2002 was a wild one!). I have paid some and others are still on there as collection or charge-off. I have nothing negative since 2002 but I have a lot of student loans in repayment and no active credit cards. How many points can I expect my credit score to rise once the last negative items expire?
Okay, now can someone actually answer my question?
